Each year, NAIDOC Week brings Australians together to celebrate the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The name NAIDOC stands for the National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee, and the celebration has its roots in the 1938 Day of Mourning before evolving into the nationwide event we know today. In 2026, NAIDOC Week is celebrated from 5–12 July under the theme "50 Years of Deadly," recognising five decades of Indigenous leadership, resilience and community achievement.
As a proudly Queensland-based, Indigenous-owned business, Supply Solutions Group (SSG) believes NAIDOC Week is about more than celebrating history it's about recognising the people, businesses and communities continuing to shape Australia's future. Across Queensland, hundreds of schools, businesses, councils and organisations come together during the week to learn, connect and celebrate the world's oldest continuous living cultures, reinforcing the importance of respect, collaboration and opportunity.
If you're looking to get involved this year, Queensland hosts a wide range of fantastic community events. The Ipswich NAIDOC Family & Cultural Celebration brings together cultural performances, activities and local community members in the heart of Ipswich, while Musgrave Park Family Fun Day in Brisbane has grown into one of Australia's largest NAIDOC celebrations, attracting thousands of visitors every year with live entertainment, cultural performances, market stalls and family activities. Whether you're attending as an individual, family or business, these events are an opportunity to celebrate culture while supporting Indigenous communities across Queensland.
